Application Software Installation Services
Application software installation is available in the following ways:
- Choose from our software library We own many copies of popular application programs. However, some licenses are limited, so reserve early. We charge an installation fee for each software load. Check to see if what you use is available.
- Provide us your own software and we’ll install it for you. Your software can be installed at a low cost-per-system price or installed at a flat hourly rate.
- Provide a Ghost Image of your system’s fixed drive. Alternatively, we can prepare one or more of the systems that will be part of the rental order for you to load your programs on. Once finished the system(s) is returned to us for Ghosting and then duplicated on all the other systems that comprise the order. This is a substantial time saver when renting a quantity of computer systems.
Local Area Networking
From preparing systems to be ‘network ready’ to the installation and set-up of cabled and wireless LANs, SLC can handle all rentals requiring Ethernet networking. For peer-to-peer, server-based, and networks for Internet or printer sharing, SLC has the staff and expertise to get the job done. We rent all types of network hardware including NIC’s, hubs, switches, routers, and cabling of all lengths. We stock IBM and H/P servers that can be custom configured to meet your specific requirements. Microsoft Server network operating systems can be custom installed according to your requirements. On-site installation is available by the hour, day, or under contract and is performed by trained network technicians. When requesting networked systems and cabling installation please provide specifics on room sizes, table and computer locations, room doorway and openings locations and sizes, and availability of power outlets (including RJ45 jacks if any). A quickly drawn floor plan identifying the above items can dramatically save time and ensure that all logistics issues are addressed before we show up for the set-up.
Internet Connectivity
All rental systems provided by SLC are pre-loaded with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Individual systems can be configured with a 56K dial-up account so that immediate Internet access can be achieved out-of-the-box. SLC can provide hourly communication connectivity services to configure your rental systems to work with installed ISDN, T1, Cable, XDSL, or POTS services. Normally these services are provided through an Ethernet network where IP and Server information is necessary, in advance, to configure services. These services are available inside and outside of normal business hours. Call for more information.
Pick-Up & Delivery / Installation & Set-up Services
SLC offers delivery and pick-up services, for a nominal fee, throughout New England. These services can be performed around the clock at any time of night or day, depending on your individual needs. Fees are based upon your location and the times and days on which you want the equipment delivered and picked-up. Equipment set-up and breakdown services can normally be provided, when possible, with all equipment rentals. Please check the ‘need installation’ box in your quote cart.
Wireless Networks
Imagine having the freedom to connect instantly from anywhere in a convention hall or conference center without the need for cumbersome cabling that limits your movement. SLC provides complete wireless installations for short term rentals AT THE SAME cost of ordinary cabled systems for most installations. Our trained technicians inspect the rental site and then design and install a solution that meets your needs. As with all our rental services, immediate technical support is available 24 hours a day.
